The Water Cycle
Follow a drop of water through evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection.
What we're learning
Earth's water never disappears — it moves in a loop called the water cycle.
The four steps
- Evaporation: the sun heats water in oceans and lakes, turning it into vapour that rises.
- Condensation: the vapour cools high up and forms tiny droplets that make clouds.
- Precipitation: droplets grow heavy and fall as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
- Collection: the water gathers in rivers, lakes, and oceans, and the cycle starts again.
